As the grandson of two World War II veterans and the son of a Vietnam veteran, it makes me mad as hell to see how our warriors are treated when they return home. On each side of the entrance to the VA headquarters building in Washington are plaques that bear Abraham Lincoln’s words: “To care for him who shall have borne the battle.” Clearly the VA administrators aren’t reading these words when they go to work every day. Disgraceful bureaucrats at the VA have covered up deaths caused by long waits for healthcare at VA clinics, and no one has been held accountable. Our heroes deserve a red carpet, not red tape.
